I know this is a old thread, but I just got involved in doing the fuel pump replacement on my 2006 800 outlander and found the forum and this and other threads very help full. I did notice when doing mine (that also had water and mud in the tank) that the little vent line that plugs into the top of the frame under the seat can ingest water into the tank if it is submerged . I extended it up to the front and brought it up by the snorkels. Hope this might give a little more insurance against water and mud in the tank. This is a great forum w/ loads of info and we are all lucky to have it. Thanks.

Thanks for the great thread!! Saved me a trip to the dealer over an hour away. Just wanted to pass along that you can use an e8335 fuel pump from autozone. It has the same or better specs than the e8213 suggested and it is only $69.99.
Just wanted to add some more info to this great DIY thread. I also used the E8335 pump on 07 Renegade and works great. You can find this or similar on the shelf at any Japanese auto parts store. It's a common pump on older Japanese cars.

Also found this site that will give a cross reference number for E8213 and E8335 and gives you a list of vehicles that it will fit. Really comes in handy when trying to order a part and suppliers always asking "what vehicle did it come out of".

Airtex Online Parts Catalog

Just enter the Pump E8213 number in the cross reference search and it will give you a list of part numbers.

Just a fyi I have been trying to figure my 09 800 gade out for a month fuel pressure was at 50 psi, i cleaned the map sensor, replace air filter, plugs, adjusted valves, belt ,dalton clutch kit,had injectors cleaned and flow checked, and on and on. In the end it was not the pump but the black part between the regulator and the pump is a filter. You can drill that out and add a filter from a 08 inline and problem solved.
Now my bike can wheelie over backwards with 27s on it.

I think its shitty of can am to make the filter not serviceable on the 09 .

That's good to know, but every manufacturer is doing that now my 05 Silverado is the same way. I guess they figure they will make a bunch of money off people buying a complete fuel pump assembly.

Used the E8335 part myself and it works great!!

Thanks for the writeup, very handy and thanks for the part links... I now replaced my fuel pump with a $60 (with shipping for me) fuel pump and 1 hour of my time. Now my quad pulls 51 psi properly and it was VERY inexpensive to fix as well. Big thanks everyone for your time in this thread!!

Is there any reason that the pump has to be in the tank? Awful PITA to service on the G2's.

Well the only reason I could see would be heat. I was a professional auto mechanic for years and thats one reason you should try to not run as newer vehicle low on fuel for extended periods of time. The fuel actually keeps the pump cool and we all know how hot these machines run anyway.

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm sure this will be usefull to me sooner or later.

Does anyone have any part numbers for a fuel pressure gauge? I have read that in EFI applications that you need a 0-100psi gauge. Is this true?

I think I am having fuel pump issues also. i have to check the pressure with this new pressure gauge i bought.

I had to replace the fuel pump at about 800 miles. Now I have 1811miles on my outty and I am getting the same symptoms as before. I had the dealership replace my first one under warranty for $100.

Last time I replaced the pump, i just installed a pc3 before it went out. And I just put the pc3 back on and now i believe I am having the same issue(bad pump). Could this be coincidence? Or just bad luck?

I want to say thanks for the information on the fuel pump replacement. Mine wasn't as dirty as yours. I checked the pressure on the pump and it was putting out 32#. Took your advice and got the replacement pump from AutoZone. After I replaced the pump my fuel pressure was 51# and my machine ran great. Thanks, you saved me around $300.00. You have a very good step by step instructions and great pictures. Again thanks.

My question is: Are the Can Am fuel pumps backwards compatible for the car fuel pumps. Or, did CanAm have a lighter, cheaper, weaker unit built for them? like the Warn winch I had to replace.

Replaced the fuel pump and still readin 49-50psi. Takes a while for it to die but my machine died 30mins into ride this past Sunday. Any advice would be appreciated. I am lost at this point.
