I planned on it. Was just curious if someone had experienced the same thing and knew what it was or possibly could be.Take it back to the dealer. We could make guesses but really you outta just have waranty fix it. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
BRP kept delaying the repair at the second dealer. Also the dealer kept saying if BRP doesn't cover any of the repair it's on me. The dealer also said they've gotten burned before. So it's mainly BRP but also the dealer who gives the runaround. Also to be honest I told both the dealer and BRP that I wanted a new long block. BRP flat out said no. That it doesn't matter hours old or not. They're policy is just to repair and replace the defective parts. To me that's totally unacceptable after paying $14000 on a new machine. The first dealer has been a BRP dealer for 30 yrs. and the Service Manager there said he's asking for a long block because my engine is bad. It is what it is now. How I didn't choke anybody in all this was a miracle. But I've accepted that I'll have one of the best in the business rebuild when I'm ready. Then go after BRP for the cost. My 850 sat a total of more than 2 months at 3 different dealers waiting to get this resolved. They drag their feet and meantime I didn't have a machine.Midnightrun
Curious why neither dealer did not tear your motor down to fix the problem they both diagnosed? Did they not have Canam mechanics?
Many dealers do not have love for warranty work as it can be hard to meet flat rate times and they get paid in credits not money usually , a dealer who has a good engine mechanic should be able to easily rebuild your motor without a issue.
Good Mechanics are hard to find and are worth driving for if you find one, look in the back shop for engines torn down. If the shop has no engine work going through the shop they will not have anyone trained, experience equals training. Abnormal noises seldom end well and you always want them diagnosed or repaired in warranty if possible. Often a new replacement part / job will carry its own warranty. So if you get a new long block and it fails again in short order, but out of your machines warranty it would also have some warranty in many cases.
Here is what I know so far. The tech has had it in his bay since yesterday and has not been able to replicate the problem. The day I dropped it off the noise had reduced significantly but the tech listened to the videos I had and wanted to check it out. Two days before dropping it off I changed the oil to Amsoil 5w40 and ran it for maybe 15 minutes. the oil I drained looked brand new and it was BRP oil. I have always ran Amsoil in my toys so I opted to make the change since I had roughly 130 miles on the machine and figured any break-in that was to happen had already taken place. Did Amsoil magically fix my problem? LOL
Ok sounds like something might have been settling in. But I have also seen engines quiet down with an oil brand or weight change. Amsoil is good stuff. Here is what I know so far. The only other thing I found while greasing the fittings was one of the drain tubes had some water in it. When I pulled the bulb nothing drained out of the hose. It only had enough water to fill the catch bulb about half way. I am lost and it sounds like the dealer is too. He was checking for historic codes with the BUDS to see if there were any.
I will let you all know if I find anything else out. Planning on picking it up tomorrow.
