Maintenance soon light came on, but runs ok . What needs to be done if anything.

The light is set to come off when you reach certain engine hours 10, 50, 100, 200 ,etc. They mean nothing as long as you did your proper fluid changes and some other maintenance checks and adjustments. They're listed in your owners manual.

The light can be reset by the dealership or you can keep riding with it flashing. I just gets annoying.

Pressing the override and brake does not work unless I am doing it wrong

Has anyone confimed that this will work? I'm considering moving from a Brute Force to an Outy 1000 and having to rely on the dealer for the light reset might be a dealbreaker for me.

Mine has 7hrs on it. I've been busy and haven't been riding much because I've been doing a lot of bowhunting... When I hit 10hrs I'll give it a try and let you know if it works. Surely it does. It may be another week two though

I'm new to this forum & I realize a lot of people are having trouble with resetting there maintenance required reminders. I have a 2014 Outlander 500. I recently changed all the fluids after my 10hr break in. I have tried every option listed on this forum & others, for trying to reset the maintenance reminder. I am having no luck. What the manual says doesn't seem to be working. Has anyone had any luck with it? I really don't want to take it to the dealer for this.

In the manual it does say that you can reset it, but so far I don't think anyone has had any luck doing it. I paid $18 for my dealer to reset mine when it was in for some warranty work. I wish I hadn't paid him, but now it is too late. If I get the "maintenance required" again, I will take it into the dealer and tell them that the procedure does not work as stated in the manual, and that I want it fixed so that the procedure does work.
I hope that if any body does try this tactic, that they would let us know if they were successful.

I just hit 10 hours this past weekend and was looking for the maintenance light, but it never came on???

I was looking for that too and it didn't happen. Never saw the message.

I have read other similar posts about resetting the message. The process does work but you must complete the alternating process within 4 seconds.

From what they say it takes a few tries to get the process down so you can do it right and under 4 seconds. I was trying to find out how to get that message off of mine but unfortunately it's a g1 so I would have to bring it to a stealership to get it removed. I just live with it.

Your guess is as good as mine! I may call my dealer tomorrow.

Ok. So, I tried the override break pedal thing and it's a no can do. Either it just doesn't work or i'm doing it wrong. Regardless, I was tired of trying it. I'll just live with the messge on my screen. I'm not giving the dealership a reason to get money off me just cuz the are the only one that can reset it!

I

Have you asked your dealer to take it off? I ask because my dealer said if it comes up just bring my outty in and he'll reset it for free.

Did you try this?

Here is a How-To for manually resetting the "Maintenance Required" code that comes up each time your CanAm is due for maintenance per whats programmed from the factory. This way does not require the BUDS software that the dealer uses, its just a little long winded....but it will save you money unless you just have an awesome dealer that will plug up to the computer for you for free. I got this in the form of a print-out directly from the service manager at my dealer....who just happens to be really cool.

1. ECM must be completely powered down.
2. Transmission in PARK.
3. Turn the Ignition Switch ON.
NOTICE: Engine must NOT be running.

Now the following steps must be done in this order in 4 seconds or less:
1. Press the Override Button.
2. Press the Brake Pedal.
3. Release the Brake Pedal.
4. Release the Override Button.
5. Press the Brake Pedal.
6. Release the Brake Pedal.
7. Press the Override Button.
8. Press the Brake Pedal.
9. Release the Brake Pedal.
10. Release the Override Button.
11. Turn Ignition Switch to OFF and Allow to Power All the Way Down.

NOTE: After turning the ignition switch to OFF, the electrical system stays ON for a moment. Wait till it's completely off.

Next time the ignition switch is turned on the maintenance message will not be displayed. In the event the maintenanc required message is still present or has come back on, do the procedure again

Bray, don't want to be pushy, but are u gonna try getting them to fix the procedure. Unfortunately I had already had the dealer reset mine before I thought about this or else I would have done it. I am really curious if they will try to say that it is operator abuse or normal wear & tear to avoid fixing it (LOL). Also it you are successful in getting them to except it as a warranty issue, then everybody will benefit from it.

Well, the deal is, when the tech was going over my machine with me I ask how much the first service would be "never intending on ever having them do it". I do all my mechanic work on my machines. When he told me 300$ I laughed and said "that'll never happen" lol. So, when he told me the maintenance required had to be reset by them I asked if that would be something quick and easy that they don't charge anything for He said, it would be 10$. And then i said. Well ya know. But I think I might still try and see what i can get done about it.
