Just purchased my first can am, 2022 Renegade 1000r x xc. Really psyched, I'm in VT, and seeing if anyone has suggestions for mud/snow tires? Was on the fence between the xmr and xxc. I've got 20 acres, and nearby to the VASA trails. Feel like I should have either went with the xmr, or make sure I get some bigger more aggressive tires for the winter and mud on the xxc. Any input would be much appreciated!

Welcome to the site!
Yeah the XMR has heavier components that are made to take a beating. The X XC is a good machine too. There are many kinds of tires for mud and some are better than others. many people will tell you that the tires they are using are awesome but may have never tried a different tire. The OEM Cryptids that come on the XMR are really good for mud and do well on other terrain. That is why they come on the XMR. For me they are fine. Depending on your taste there is much you can do. Go as far as Portals and 42 inch mega mayhem tires with 4 inch deep paddles if that suits you. I suggest watching YouTube videos as many riders experience a wide variety of setups and will talk about the benefits and drawbacks. My suggestion is don't be in a hurry to do upgrades and get used to your machine like it is. After getting stuck a few times then try a more aggressive tire.

Thanks man, yea you're right, I'm gonna wait and see what it can do on the land.

The ATR is the best sport quad tire I’ve ever used. Super strong, takes big beatings and run 6psi. I run dirt, hard pack, some mud, rock and the tires are so freeking stable and predictable. Good traction across a variety of terrain. One rider told me they are not good in snow but since I don’t ride snow I have no idea. The XXC is the best handling ATV I’ve ever owned, incredibly nimble, fast, comfortable and if your an aggressive rider you can really appreciate the total package. Only ridden with an XMR 1000 once and it fell to the back of the pack on twisty and rocky terrain where I didn’t see it do well, in the mud it was king for sure. I would agree that you try as is first then see how it goes, I can’t see anyone being disappointed with a XXC 1000.

Make sure to grease the chassis often including the driveshaft. Amsoil Severe Gear quiets down the front and rear differentials when your ready for a lube change something to consider.

I went up a size. This is exactly what I ran

Kenda Bear Claw HTR

26x11R12 (rear)$138 ea
26x9R12 (front) - $125 ea

I have fender extenders & had to shave a little of of the outer skirt so they didn’t rub when I compressed the rear over jumps.

they do not hit any stock plastics

Thanks! Where did you order them from?

I have a Renegade buddy that just bought some Elka Stage 3's. He has the same color and 1000R as me. Told him to send me pictures when he gets them installed. If and when I do this I was thinking of selling my stocks for $100.00 a piece. Or selling them on FB Marketplace. These stock ones I have kind of suck...

New here and new sorta new to quads. I’m a vet NETRA racer, so I do understand properly setting up a machine. I’m currently setting up my new ‘22 xxc1000r with some stuff from Cecco, HMF, RVS, etc… my question is… is anyone using a thick walled aluminum stock for the through frame reinforcement on these machines or is steel the way to go? Thanks for any advice! BTW, I’m in central CT and looking to get out and ride! All my buddies are dirt bike guys, so I need to find some more riding buddies. Have “some” trails around here, but have trailer and will travel! Might even give a XC race a try this summer.

I’m in CT also.
Haven’t heard of frame problems on the G2 chassis. Reinforcements never hurt, but none of us have done it because we’ve been ok.
We are aggressive riders but don’t air it out jumping. I save that stuff for the Banshee lol

Re-sell it shortly after purchasing, i.e.

Flip it

Not hip to the lingo?
